Slam poet-turned-Rapper Watsky has announced the release date of his fifth album, titled x Infinity, due out August 19th. The announcement comes with the release of a music video for new song “Tiny Glowing Screens Pt. 3”, a continuation of a series started with his 2013 album Cardboard Castles.
Watsky – whose music career has paired him with a range of artists including Dumbfoundead, Palmer Squares, Spose, Kate Nash, and Stephen Stills – received acclaim at an early age for his spoken word poetry, which lead to him becoming the Youth Speaks Grand Slam Poetry Champion in 2006.
Watsky’s previous album, 2014’s All You Can Do, was executive produced by a pre-fame Anderson .Paak, and featured Watsky’s biggest hit “Whoa Whoa Whoa”. x Infinity will, for some reason, be executive produced by comedian Russel Simmons, will once again feature .Paak, as well as Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun.
The announcement of the album was paired with the announcement of an international tour with Witt Lowry, Daye Jack, and Chukwudi Hodge. Tickets are available on Watsky’s website.
