The Cool Kids Announce Reunion

Five years after their breakup, influential rap duo the Cool Kids recently announced that they are reuniting for new music.

Back in 2007, Chuck Inglish and Sir Michael Rocks blew onto the rap scene with their single “Black Mags”, a song that’s basically just about how cool their bikes are. The Cool Kids went on to dominate the rap scene for years with their carefree swag-rap, influencing not just the music at the time but the fashion as well. At a time when commercial rap was dominating the charts, the Cool Kids were exactly what their name described: a couple of young guys from Chicago and Michigan who dressed how they wanted, and who created a new sound that’s gone on to influence everybody from Michael Christmas to Chance the Rapper.

Chuck and Mikey were two of the biggest rappers going during their historic mixtape run from 2007-2011, working with Drake, Lil Wayne, Asher Roth, Maroon 5, and Ghostface Killah before label issues that had been hindering them for years led to their breakup. The lukewarm reception to their debut studio album, 2011’s When Fish Ride Bicycles, also contributed to their disbandment. Both artists went on to have successful solo careers, releasing thirteen albums between them since their breakup, and reuniting for the occasional single.

Now, five years later, Chuck Inglish has announced the duo’s reunion on Twitter.
