The whole internet’s in an uproar after the elusive Frank Ocean updated his website with a video, thought to be a livestream but revealed to be a looped video, that depicted an empty warehouse with a worktable and a Thomas Sachs speaker set. While his upcoming Boys Don’t Cry has been anticipated since 2012’s Channel orange, and it’s surely going to be one of the year’s best releases, Ocean isn’t the only person with new music worth listening to. Check out these new albums while you wait for something to change in Frank’s warehouse:
Noname – Telefone

Speaking of anticipated albums, Noname’s Telefone has been teased since June 2014, with little information being given out until about a week ago when the release date (July 31st) was announced. Noname’s been one of the most lyrical artists in the game since her verse on Chance’s “Lost“, and a range of features over the past three years brought her well-deserved acclaim. Her debut album is everything anyone could’ve hoped for, showcasing her laid-back style, excellent production from the likes of Monte Booker and Saba, and complementary features from artists including Raury, Eryn Allen Kane, and Smino. Stream it on Noname’s Soundcloud.
Lil Uzi Vert – The Perfect LUV Tape

Uzi’s second tape of the year (after May’s Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World) finds the XXL Freshman honing his craft. The tape contains his best music yet, featuring production from Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, and Don Cannon, as well as features from Playboi Carti, Offset, and Future (this marks Uzi and Future’s second collaboration, after “Too Much SauceToo Much Sauce” off of DJ Esco’s latest album). The excellent album art carries on the Scott Pilgrim theme established through the cover of his last album (and songs like “Scott and Ramona”), and Uzi’s penchant for subverting standard rap sounds is well established for his fifth release, available for free streaming on his Soundcloud.
Jesse Boykins III – Bartholomew

Jesse Boykins III is probably more well-known for his many features, but his music stands up very well on its own. The Chicago R&B singer has been releasing music since 2008, and Bartholomew, released today on Soundcloud, is his sixth release. The tape is packed with features, including Noname, Isaiah Rashad, Donnie Trumpet, Kilo Kish, Little Simz, Trinidad Jame$, Willow Smith, Syd the Kid (from the Internet), Audiopush, Dej Loaf, and Mick Jenkins.
Soulja Boy – Rockstar

In case you’re feeling like reliving 2008, you can listen to new Soulja Boy music on Datpiff. The tape features production from Mike WiLL-Made-It and London On Da Track, and verses by King Reefa, Go Yayo, Lil Ronnie, Spectacular, and Sean Kingston.
