They don’t want Kodak to go free, apparently.
Two days ago, it was reported that Florida rapper and XXL Freshman Kodak Black was going to be released from jail through a phenomenal plea deal that would only see him serving a year of house arrest and five years of probation. Kodak went to prison in May after being caught for armed robbery and false imprisonment, and in the past six months had been previously detained for charges including robbery, battery, possession of cannabis, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
As Kodak was literally in the process of being released yesterday, however, it was discovered that he had two active arrest warrants. One warrant accuses him of out-of-state criminal sexual conduct, and is a no-bond hold, which means he can’t get out of jail until a judge officially sets a bail amount.
We’ll update if new information is discovered, but at this point, it will be a while before Kodak Black goes free.
The 19-year-old rapper, born Dieuson Octave, rose to quick prominence after Drake cosigned his 2015 hit “Skrt“. He’s released four acclaimed mixtapes in three years, including his most recent effort, Lil B.I.B. Pac, while still incarcerated in June. Recent appearances on albums by French Montana and Rae Sremmurd have helped catapult the young rapper to much-deserved fame, as his renowned ability to capture the realities of street life for a young black American has brought him love from critics and fans alike.
