Gucci & Future Record and Release an Album in 24 Hours

More than Wayne, more than Thugga, Gucci Mane is known for a baffling amount of album releases. His Wikipedia page lists a stunning 81 projects released in an eleven year period, and several of those years were spent incarcerated. 2016 is proving to be no different from any other year for Guwop, as he just released his third project since getting out of jail (eight of the year) with Free Bricks 2: Zone 6 Edition, his second collaborative release with Future.

The six-track EP, released on Soundcloud, is a sequel to Future and Gucci’s 2011 mixtape Free Bricks. In an interview with MissInfo, Gucci revealed that the two artists met up last night in Atlanta, ditched their entourages, and holed up in a random studio. They went back and forth over beats by Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, and Southside, and before long, according to Gucci, the duo had “6 songs so crazy that I knew we couldn’t just sit on it… These joints ain’t even 24 hours old. That’s like bringing you in the studio with us.”

Many have expressed a desire for Gucci to slow down and choose quality over quantity, but that’s clearly not an option for the Trap God. Gucci Mane’s post-incarceration album Everybody Looking is one of the best of his career (Woptober wasn’t too bad either), and Future’s managed to become one of rap’s most respected artists since the release of the first Free Bricks, so expect something exciting from the short-yet-sweet EP.
