For the ultimate hip hop Christmas present, rap duo Run the Jewels decided to drop their much-anticipated third album three weeks early.
RTJ3 was high on the list of anticipated albums for 2017, with a previously announced release date of January 13th, but as a “thank you for everything and merry Christmas“, Killer Mike and El-P dropped off the album tonight.
The album’s three previous singles (“Talk To Me”, “2100”, and “Legend Has It”) were fantastic previews, and prime examples of the band’s industrial-tinged, hard-hitting, no-holds-barred political rap. The album features Danny Brown, Trina, Joi (known for her work with Dungeon Family artists like Outkast and Goodie Mob), saxophone master Kamasi Washington, and TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe.
The album is available for free download off the group’s website (which apparently just crashed) or for purchase on iTunes.
