After ‘breaking up’ six years ago, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s animated hip hop/britpop project Gorillaz are finally releasing their new album, Humanz, on April 28th.
After having their tracklist , along with several track snippets, leaked over the past few days, Gorillaz’ announced via Instagram that their long-awaited followup to 2011’s The Fall is officially on its way.
The anticipated project has an appropriately incredible list of features, including Vince Staples, Danny Brown, Mavis Staples, D.R.A.M., Jenny Beth, Popcaan, De La Soul, Pusha T, Kali Uchis, Kilo Kish, and many more.
Gorillaz have been teasing Humanz since late last year, releasing storylines for each of the band’s four animated members on Instagram. Noodlez, Murdoc Niccals, 2D, and Russel Hobbs have all been busy since the storyline supposedly concluded with 2010’s Plastic Beach, and their increasingly convoluted storyline will continue with the new album.
With the album announcement came a new video, the six-minute “Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)” that features all four new tracks. Check that out below, and get hyped for one of Britain’s biggest musical groups to stage their epic return over the next month and beyond.
